Frequently asked questions about ordering your cake with Dixie Bakes

Where are you located?

We are a home based council registered business located in Officer, SE Melbourne. We deliver all over Melbourne including the Mornington Peninsula, Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley & Gippsland.

Do you offer delivery?

Yes, delivery is calculated on distance from our kitchen. Cakes ordered from the online shop do not include delivery, they are required to be picked up from our Officer kitchen. If you need delivery please do let us know when you order.

How much notice do you need to give when ordering a cake?

For custom celebration cakes it is best to allow at least 3 weeks notice. Alternatively you can order from our online cake range with as little as 2 days notice for some items.

Wedding cakes are best to be ordered at least 3 months in advance to avoid disappointment. I only take on a certain amount of orders per week to ensure I have the time to put love and care into each creation.

I have my own ideas for a cake can I still contact you?

Yes! By all means please do. I am happy to chat about your ideas and give some suggestions for us to design a cake together. You can fill in the contact form or alternatively email me directly at dixiebakes@outlook.com.

Do you offer refunds?

We do not offer refunds on online cake store purchases. For Wedding Cake cancellations that are more than a month out from delivery date, a $50 administration fee will be withheld.

For all other orders the deposit will be withheld if you cancel your order within 14 days of delivery/collection date.

What are your terms of payment?

A deposit is required to confirm and secure a booking. Deposits will be between 20% – 50% depending on the order. No order will be commenced until a deposit has been received. The balance is required to be paid a minimum of 7 days prior to delivery or collection of your cake.

Online cake orders are to be paid in full on checkout.

Do you offer Wedding cake tastings?

Yes! After all, that is the best part, right? I can either meet with you at a location suitable or at my studio for a consultation. Alternatively if you’re flat out, I can post you a tasting pack and plan via email.

How do I transport the cake after I collect it?

I recommend the cake travel in the boot or on the floor of the car, so they move with the car and are less likely to become damaged. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any breakages or damages to your cake after it has been collected. All of my ready-to-order cakes require refrigeration. So pop it in the fridge when you get home and keep it in the box. It is best to keep it in the box to prevent anything in your fridge contaminating your cake. Take the cake out of the fridge for approximately 1 hour before serving to bring it back to room temperature. If you manage to have any leftovers, they will keep for up to a week in the fridge if kept in an airtight container.
